Abstract

Introduction: Instruction in different context in accordance with the purpose, content and method; requires a special instructional design that ensures coordination of these elements in order to achieve the purpose of learning. The purpose of this study is to describe the theory of andragogy and provide a model based on it for adult education in e-learning environments.
Method: The methodology of this study is deductive type of qualitative content analysis and. In order to answer the three main questions raised in the instructional design process components of instruction, order and sequence of teaching components and evaluation method, the assumptions of Knowles’s model in andragogy were analyzed  and its components have been extracted. Then, based on the results of the analysis and the theoretical basis of e-learning, a model for adult learning was presented in electronic environments. The statistical population is the authoritative documents in the field of adult education from 1980 to 2017, 33 articles and books selected and studied on the basis of a targeted sampling.
Results: according to document analysis and anagogical assumptions that adult learners can learn better when they share their experience with other learners and when these experiences are connected to learning process, a model was advised for adult education in eLearning environments. The model consisted of five components with the learning task in the center. Although designed model includes adult education component, it also includes components that can be used in networked learning
